Job summary

The National Hockey League (NHL) is seeking a Data Architect to design and evolve its enterprise data architecture across OLTP, data warehouse, data lake, and streaming platforms. You will own the underlying infrastructure across on‑prem and AWS, ensuring scalable, secure, and compliant data solutions while partnering with analytics and platform teams.

Qualified candidates bring 7+ years in data engineering/architecture, hands‑on experience with MySQL and other engines, SOC 2 controls, and

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in data engineering, database administration, or data architecture roles, with at least 2 years in an architect or lead capacity.
• Hands-on experience with multiple database engines (MySQL required; PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or NoSQL platforms a plus).
• Experience in SOC 2 environments and audit evidence collection.
• Experience with data warehouse/analytics platforms and modern data pipeline tooling.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the target-state data architecture across OLTP, data warehouse, data lake, and streaming platforms.
• Design data models, integration patterns, and reference architectures for applications.
• Architect infrastructure for data platforms across on-prem and AWS.
• Establish standards for deployment, backup, replication, and recovery.
• Partner with dev teams on schema design, query patterns, and performance tuning.
• Ensure data security, access, and governance aligned with SOC 2 requirements.
