Job summary

SMX seeks an expert Senior Data Architect to design, implement, and optimize an enterprise data warehouse supporting federal transportation analytics. You will replace legacy systems, lead cloud modernization on AWS, and drive data-driven decisions for national programs.

Responsibilities include owning data architecture, modeling, ETL/ELT pipelines, and governance, with hands-on work in SQL Server, MariaDB, SSIS, Python, and Databricks, leveraging Visio and BI tools to empower stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, engineering, information systems, or related field.
• 10+ years in BI, data warehousing, data modeling and DB design.
• Proven AWS cloud data architecture experience.
• Expert in dimensional modeling and analytics.
• Hands-on with SQL Server and MariaDB.
• Experience building ETL/ELT with SSIS, Python, or Databricks.
• Strong ability to translate business needs to technical requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead data architecture for scalable models, data marts, and databases.
• Design and maintain logical and physical data models.
• Oversee ETL/ELT pipelines from critical sources (NTD, TRAMS) and external data.
• Provide technical leadership and governance for data architecture.
• Assist cloud modernization and migration to AWS, Databricks, and Data Lakes.
