Job summary

Datavail is seeking a Senior Data Architect to lead the design and delivery of modern data platforms for clients in the United States. You will own client engagements from discovery through production, focusing on Microsoft Fabric and the Azure data ecosystem.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 10+ years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing or analytics, including 5+ years in a data/solution architect role.
• 3+ years designing and delivering data solutions on Azure with Fabric in production.
• End-to-end architecture ownership of at least two enterprise-scale data platform implementations.
• Expert-level dimensional modeling skills; Data Vault 2.0 and 3NF modeling knowledge.
• Advanced SQL (T-SQL, Spark SQL) and Python; knowledge of DAX and KQL.
• Experience with CI/CD, Git-based workflows and IaC for data platforms.
• Experience in professional services/consulting or client-facing delivery, including pre-sales and estimation.
• Experience leading and mentoring technical teams.
• Ability to travel up to 25% to client sites; US work authorization.

Responsibilities

• Architecture and solution design for client data estates.
• Lead discovery and current-state assessments of client data estates.
• Define target-state and transition architectures for analytics, data warehousing, Lakehouse, real-time and operational workloads.
• Produce architecture deliverables: ADRs, diagrams, requirements, capacity plans.
• Evaluate Fabric, Databricks, Azure Synapse, and Azure SQL with cost and risk analysis.
• Apply Azure Well-Architected Framework and CAF guidance to designs.
• Plan migrations from on-premises SQL Server and legacy warehouses to Fabric and Azure.
• Lead architecture reviews and maintain standards; manage technical debt.
