Job description

itD is seeking a skilled Senior Data Architect with expertise in IBM StreamSets to join our dynamic Retail and Data teams at an emerging account. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading a complex, multi-phase data migration program leveraging IBM StreamSets to a modern data architecture. This role requires strong architectural leadership, deep expertise in data pipeline design, and a solid understanding of retail data domains, including stores, inventory, supply chain, and point of sale. You will work closely with itD and client technical teams to optimize delivery.

This long-term W2 opportunity is fully remote, with preference for candidates in the PST time zone.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and lead the migration of enterprise retail data utilizing IBM StreamSets
• Build and optimize real-time and batch pipelines for data ingestion, transformation, validation, and delivery.
• Partner with cross-functional teams including data engineering, IT, and business to align technical solutions with operational priorities.
• Ensure high standards for data integrity, governance, availability, and audibility across all migration activities.
• Lead performance tuning, error handling, and cost-efficient architecture decisions.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to internal and client delivery teams.
• Drive consistency and standardization across data integration patterns and architecture frameworks.

The internal responsibilities will be as follows:

• Attend regular internal practice community meetings.
• Collaborate with your itD practice team on industry thought leadership.
• Complete client case studies and learning material. (Blogs, media material).
• Build out material to contribute to Digital Transformation practice.
• Attend internal itD networking events (in person and virtual).
• Work with leadership on career fast-track opportunities.

Required qualifications and skills

• Deep expertise in IBM StreamSets
• 10+ years of experience in data architecture with 3+ years leading data migration or modernization efforts for large-scale transformation efforts
• Experience with cloud-based or hybrid data platforms
• Solid understanding of data governance, metadata management, and lineage tracking
• Ability to adapt and work in high-pressure situations with cross-functional teams, oftentimes with limited information and tight timelines

Preferred qualifications and skills

• Industry certifications in IBM StreamSets, or relevant data architecture frameworks
• Experience with Azure and Snowflake a plus
• Understanding of retail data ecosystems
• Familiarity with Agile and DevOps methodologies for data workflows

Education

BS/MS in a technical field, or relevant field experience
