Job summary

NuAxis Innovations seeks a Senior Data Analyst / Power BI Developer to join our Washington, DC team in a full-time capacity. You will analyze investigative data from case management systems, build data-visualization resources, and lead data-model development for enterprise use.

You will translate complex data requirements into actionable BI solutions, craft SQL queries, and develop dashboards in Power BI and Tableau, collaborating with business partners to drive data-driven decisions.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of IT experience with 5+ years in data-analytics duties.
• Experience building modern, user-experience-rich BI solutions.
• Proficiency with SQL queries and scripts for data retrieval.
• Experience converting raw data into meaningful information using Excel and BI tools.
• Data mining, data modeling, and using DAX Studio.
• Knowledge of database structures and creating views.
• Advanced Excel (graphs, pivots) and dashboard development.
• Experience translating business requirements into analytical designs; familiarity with Agile (Jira/TFS).
• Ability to liaise with business partners and translate needs into technical specs.

Position Overview

The Senior Data Analyst conducts analysis of investigative data contained within case management systems and applications and develops data-visualization resources for use by agency stakeholders. The analyst performs statistical analyses to help answer questions and solve problems, and oversees data-model development including conceptual, logical, and physical models. This role translates business data from a wide variety of structured and unstructured sources into usable enterprise information — which may include data management and cleaning functions and the development of metadata schemas, controlled vocabularies, ontologies, and taxonomies. The analyst may support the design of SQL queries for corresponding search engines used in data retrieval, and uses visualization tools and strong communication skills to convey findings to business stakeholders.

Experience And Qualifications

• At least 6 years of progressively responsible IT experience, including at least 5 years performing data-analytics duties.
• Experience building modern, user-experience-rich Business Intelligence solutions.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases, and proficiency in writing complex SQL queries and scripts to gather, retrieve, store, and manipulate information.
• Experience converting raw data into meaningful information using Excel and visualization tools such as Power BI and Tableau.
• Experience in data mining, building data models, and using DAX Studio.
• Knowledge of database structures, with experience creating views.
• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including graphing and pivot tables.
• Experience planning, conducting, assigning, and monitoring visualization-development efforts iteratively — including working with business partners to review prototypes and develop iterative revisions.
• Experience translating business requirements into analytical design artifacts.
• Experience with Agile development methodology using tools such as Jira and Team Foundation Server (TFS).
• Ability to work closely with business partners, data owners, and cross-functional teams to understand analytical needs and translate business requirements into technical specifications.
• Ability to facilitate workshops and meetings to gather requirements, present findings, and recommend data-driven strategies.
• Ability to act as a liaison between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment.
• Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
