The Ohio Department of Higher Education is a Cabinet-Level agency for the Governor of the State of Ohio that oversees higher education for the state. The agency’s main responsibilities include authorizing and approving new degree programs, managing state-funded financial aid programs, and developing and advocating policies to maximize higher education’s contributions to the state and its citizens. The Data Management and Analysis division is responsible for the collection of Higher Education Information (HEI) system data and the activities around the use of that data. Data management staff work with institutions to submit data, troubleshoot errors and warnings that occur during the submission process, and provide guidance on how to interpret data elements in the system. In addition to providing support to the institutions for data submission, the Data Management and Analysis area also provides data and analyses to fulfill the ad hoc reporting requirements of the agency, the legislature, governor, and public, and fulfills data requests related to higher education.
