The Wall Street Journal seeks a Senior Data Analyst to join our newsroom data team in New York, reporting to the Senior Manager, Newsroom Analytics. You will own analyses, dashboards, and measurement frameworks that shape how journalism is reported and delivered to readers.

This hands-on, high-autonomy role blends analytical craft with newsroom judgment, mentoring juniors and elevating data practices across editorial, audience, and product teams.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in data analytics or related field, preferably in media/publishing/content.
• Track record of owning recurring reporting end-to-end and influencing decisions.
• Strong SQL skills; experience with BigQuery or Snowflake and dbt.
• Experience designing and running A/B tests and applying stats to results.
• Proficiency in Python for analysis and automation, with Git versioning.

Responsabilités

• Serve as analytics partner to newsroom leadership, driving growth, engagement and retention.
• Develop and maintain centralized dashboards and automated reports for self-serve data access.
• Run deep-dive analyses on opportunities, events, and performance shifts.
• Develop new metrics and frameworks to inform newsroom strategy and cross-team adoption.
• Own and maintain reporting stack; ensure data quality and timely reporting; respond to incidents.
• Design and run A/B tests; translate results into editorial/audience decisions.
• Mentor junior analysts and contribute to shared data practices.
