Job summary

Cemen Tech, Inc. in Indianola, IA, is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to transform raw data into meaningful insights supporting operational and strategic decisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, data analytics, computer science, accounting, finance, business, or a related field preferred.
  • Five or more years of hands-on experience in data analytics, business intelligence, data engineering, or a closely related role.
  • Strong SQL skills, including complex joins, CTEs, window functions, aggregations, and performance optimization.
  • Experience extracting and interpreting data from an ERP system.

PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Senior Data Analyst is responsible for helping Cemen Tech transform raw data into meaningful insights that support operational and strategic decision-making. This role serves as both a data architect and analytics partner to the business—helping organize, structure, and govern data from its source while also collaborating with departments to design dashboards and reporting tools that drive action.


Reporting directly to the Director of IT, this position will work cross-functionally with teams across the organization to improve data accessibility, consistency, and usability. They will operate as a department of one and must be comfortable working independently while prioritizing initiatives and driving projects from concept through implementation.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

More specifically, the person will:



  • Partner with business units to understand reporting needs and translate them into meaningful dashboards and analytical tools.

  • Design, develop, and maintain dashboards and reports that support decision-making across the organization.

  • Identify, define, and implement improvements to data structure, integrity, and governance across key systems.

  • Work with IT and system owners to ensure data is captured and stored in a way that supports reporting and analytics needs.

  • Develop and maintain consistent data definitions, documentation, and reporting standards.

  • Build and maintain data models and datasets that enable efficient reporting and analysis.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on company data sources and how they can be leveraged across departments.

  • Assist departments in interpreting data and identifying insights that drive operational improvements.

  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting accuracy, and visibility into business performance.

  • Monitor data quality and work with system owners to resolve discrepancies or inconsistencies.

  • Manage and prioritize multiple reporting and analytics requests across departments.

  • Provide training and support to internal users on dashboards and reporting tools.

  • Maintain documentation for data pipelines, reporting logic, and dashboard structures.

  • Support leadership with ad hoc analysis and reporting as needed.

EDUCATION – EXPERIENCE – COMPUTER SKILLS


  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, data analytics, computer science, accounting, finance, business, or a related field preferred. Equivalent relevant professional experience will be considered.

  • Experience with manufacturing, inventory, purchasing, costing, sales-order, service, and financial data.

  • Five or more years of hands-on experience in data analytics, business intelligence, data engineering, or a closely related role.

  • Strong SQL skills, including complex joins, common table expressions, window functions, aggregations, query troubleshooting, and performance optimization.

  • Experience extracting and interpreting data from an ERP system.

  • Ability to translate incomplete business requests into documented technical and reporting requirements.

  • Experience using Claude or comparable generative AI development tools to improve SQL development, data analysis, documentation, troubleshooting, and reporting efficiency.

  • Ability to validate AI-generated work for accuracy, security, performance, and alignment with company data‑governance requirements.

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple data and reporting priorities.

  • Proficient in Power BI, SQL Reporting Services or similar data analytics tool.
