Job summary

5V Video is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to help turn vast telco data into actionable decisions. Based in Stamford, CT, the role blends hybrid work with hands-on data science, rapid prototyping, and production-ready analytics.

You’ll work on fraud, risk and billing data, build models, and collaborate with data engineering to ensure live deployments. Strong SQL/Python and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Around 5 years of experience with SQL, Python and machine learning in a senior analyst or data science role.
• Fraud, risk or credit analysis experience with a record of spotting trends and patterns in complex data.
• A working understanding of billing systems, payment platforms and biller data.
• Cable or telco industry experience is a strong plus.
• The ability to explain findings to non-experts.

Senior Data Analyst | Stamford CT, Hybrid

One of our clients (and one of the biggest names in telco and media & entertainment) are growing their data teams. They’re sitting on huge volumes of customer, billing and usage data, and they need someone who can turn it into decisions that stick. Think fewer slide decks, more live models and dashboards the business uses every day. You’ll take work from raw data all the way to something running in production.

What you’ll be doing:

• Digging into fraud, credit risk and customer data to spot patterns, cut losses and protect revenue, covering areas like account takeover, payment fraud, bad debt, collections and churn.
• Building models and analyses that end up in production, and owning them from first question to live deployment.
• Working alongside data engineering so what you build is exactly what gets released.
• Turning complex findings into plain English for stakeholders who don’t live in the data.

The tech:

• SQL and Python.
• MicroStrategy for reporting. SAS Viya or JMP is a plus.
• Machine learning: generalised linear models, lasso/ridge regression, XGBoost and random forest.
• Statistical methods: hypothesis testing, experiment design and sample sizing.
• Fraud detection and digital identity platforms, such as ThreatMetrix.

What you bring:

• Around 5 years of experience with SQL, Python and machine learning in a senior analyst or data science role.

The small print:

• Salary range: $75-$100 hourly, depending on experience and fit.
