Job summary

People Data Labs in the United States is seeking a senior data engineer to help build and operate scalable backend and data ingestion systems. You will work on data acquisition, web crawling, and large-scale distributed pipelines.

You will collaborate with data product and engineering teams, write design documents, and optimize throughput, reliability, and observability while shipping reliable data products for customers.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional experience building or operating backend or infrastructure systems at scale.
• Strong programming experience in Python, Go, Rust, or similar, including async/concurrency.
• Solid understanding of software architecture, concurrency, and scalability.
• Experience with distributed systems and data ingestion pipelines.
• Proficiency with Linux/Unix command-line tools and cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to architecture and improvement of data acquisition and processing platform.
• Build and operate large-scale distributed systems for data collection and delivery.
• Design backend services for distributed job orchestration and data pipelines.
• Model and structure captured data ensuring quality and consistency.
• Improve speed, scalability, and fault-tolerance of ingestion systems.
• Collaborate with data product and engineering teams to implement data products.
