Job summary

Geosyntec Consultants is seeking a Project Dams - Geotechnical Engineer to join the Johnson City, TN office. You will lead challenging geotechnical design and construction projects involving dams, levees, coal combustion residuals, and related analyses.

The role requires a P.E. or P.G., at least 7 years of consulting experience, strong writing/communication skills, and willingness to travel for fieldwork and client engagements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or geotechnical engineering (required).
• Advanced degree in the same (preferred).
• Professional registration (P.E./P.G.) (required).
• 7+ years directly relevant consulting experience (required).
• Knowledge of geotechnical software (e.g., slope stability) (required).
• Knowledge of numerical modeling tools (preferred).
• Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and travel as needed (required).
• Strong writing and communication skills (required).
• Field work and overnight travel may be required.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and good driving record (required).

Responsibilities

• Civil design and site layout.
• Monitor heavy civil construction projects.
• Conduct geotechnical analyses (slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity, seismic, seepage).
• Dam and levee evaluations.
• Geotechnical site characterization.
• Develop and manage instrumentation monitoring systems.
• Project/task management and proposal support.
• Prepare design calculations, reports, drawings, and permits.
• Perform fieldwork related to design and construction.
