Job summary

Schnabel Engineering, a 700+-employee, employee-owned engineering and consulting firm, seeks a Senior Dam Safety Engineer in Greensboro, NC with a remote option. The role centers on dam safety, geotechnical and water resources projects, and leadership within a growing practice.

You will manage and mentor staff, coordinate field investigations, perform analyses, and communicate with clients and regulators to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to high quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred) in Geotechnical and/or Civil Engineering, or related fields.
• 20+ years of experience in the dam safety engineering field.
• Licensed Professional Engineer or ability to become registered within 6 months.
• Experience with dams and water impounding structures, cofferdams, and hydraulic structures including seepage, stability analyses, liquefaction, deformation, foundation and settlement analysis.
• Organized, self-starter with entrepreneurial, team-oriented spirit.
• Excellent English technical verbal and written communication skills.
• Occasional travel to project sites, local and remote, and ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Manage, execute, and provide technical support in a team setting on interdisciplinary infrastructure projects.
• Plan and manage geotechnical field investigations and analyze field data and lab testing as needed.
• Prepare and review engineering reports, technical documents, and presentations for diverse clients.
• Communicate with clients and regulators, set project goals, and coordinate resources to deliver on time and within budget.
• Mentor junior engineers commensurate with experience.
• Travel to project sites as required.
• Contribute to Schnabel’s brand through thought leadership in papers and conferences.
