Job summary

Tetra Tech, Inc. in Bellevue, WA is seeking a Senior Dam Safety Engineer to lead hydropower, dam safety, and water resources projects in a hybrid role across multiple offices in the region this role will support inspections, risk assessments, and design efforts across facilities.

You will mentor staff, manage projects, and contribute to the growth of our dam safety and hydropower practice while collaborating with regulatory agencies and clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil, geotechnical, geological engineering or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience with dams, hydropower, water conveyance or related infrastructure.
• Active PE license and demonstrated project management/leadership experience.
• Construction experience and ability to troubleshoot in the field.
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical teams.
• Experience preparing and reviewing technical reports, drawings, specs, and cost estimates.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite for documentation and communication.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support inspections, assessments, and risk analyses for dams and hydropower facilities.
• Participate in FERC Part 12 and USACE dam safety activities and evaluations.
• Develop engineering analyses, designs, and recommendations for facilities.
• Lead design of hydraulic structures and related components.
• Prepare and review technical reports, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams, clients, owners, contractors, and regulators.
• Serve as project manager with technical oversight, QA/QC, and mentoring.
• Visit project sites for inspections, field support, and condition evaluations.
• Apply critical thinking and engineering judgment to safety challenges.
• Support proposal development, client development, and growth of dam safety services.
• Promote safety, quality, collaboration, and professional development.
