Job summary

Kovalus Separation Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Process Engineer for liquid and cheese processes in Stratford, WI. You will design, analyze, and optimize dairy processing systems from concept through startup, collaborating with customers, regulatory bodies, sales, and field teams.

The role requires a 5+ year background in sanitary dairy processing, strong mass/energy balance skills, and experience with PFDs/P&IDs. Travel will be 20–30% to client sites and projects.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelors degree in chemical, mechanical, bio-systems, or electrical engineering.
• Must have 5+ years’ experience in the sanitary dairy process industry and a working knowledge of liquid process system design, including mass and heat transfer calculations, piping system flow/pressure calculations, pump/valve/line sizing.
• Familiarity with industry standards (3-A, ASME, FDA, USDA).
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong teamwork skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Audit and process reviews of customers’ existing process lines.
• Collaborate on conceptual design of cheese process according to customer requirements.
• Interpret input parameters and influence on engineered solutions (product rates, utilities, product mix).
• Support proposal development with technical input, equipment sizing estimations, high level PFDs and P&IDs.
• Assist sales with on-site and remote customer meetings for equipment presentations.
• Review proposals prior to delivery to customers.
• Lead commissioning, startup, and performance verification at customer sites.
• Troubleshoot process and equipment performance issues.
• Assist with training for operators and maintenance technicians.
• Travel 20–30% for client site visits and occasional international travel.
