The role involves highly complex cytopathology testing in the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service, with duties including smear preparation, slide fixation, cell block preparation, and staining. You will work closely with pathologists to diagnose and report findings.

Qualifications

  • Education: Completion of a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/university and completion of an ASCP-accredited cytotechnology program
  • Certification: Cytotechnologist (CT) or Specialist in Cytotechnology (SCT) certification (ASCP)

Responsibilities

  • Performs and monitors complex cytopathology laboratory procedures including smear preparation, slide fixation, cell block preparation, monolayer filtration, and staining
  • Troubleshoots discrepancies and takes corrective action
  • Acts as a technical resource for new processes and procedures
  • Collects, compiles, and analyzes data for quality assurance and laboratory quality management
  • Collaborates with pathologists to diagnose benign and malignant processes and provide preliminary interpretations

Education

Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/university
CAC PT cytotechnology program (ACPEP accredited)
