Job summary

First Student is seeking a Lead Cybersecurity Engineer who will design, implement, and operate controls protecting cloud, endpoint, and identity environments. You will lead projects, mentor staff, and provide technical oversight across cybersecurity investigations.

The role requires deep AWS security expertise, incident response experience, and hands-on development of IaC and security tooling; you will coordinate with I&O, Data, and Applications teams and engage with MDR partners.

Qualifications

• 10+ years IT experience with 5+ years in cybersecurity engineering or DevOps.
• Hands-on AWS cybersecurity engineering with cloud services knowledge.
• Experience with MDR onboarding and log source tuning.

Responsibilities

• Lead cybersecurity engineering projects from design to delivery.
• Oversee SDLC security including SAST/DAST tooling.
• Coordinate with I&O, Data, and Applications for investigations and improvements.
• Develop and maintain security dashboards and incident response playbooks.
