Job summary

Shield AI is seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to lead cybersecurity activities across an airborne aerospace and defense platform. This role covers avionics, mission systems, aircraft networks, communications, embedded software, and ground-support systems.

You will drive threat modeling, secure architecture, risk assessments, and doD RMF activities, ensuring protections from secure boot to data communications, and coordinating with engineers, suppliers, and program leadership to maintain

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree.
• Experience with aircraft, aerospace, defense, or embedded systems.
• Knowledge of avionics and platform networks.
• Experience with threat modeling, secure architecture, vulnerability analysis, and security testing.
• Familiarity with DoD RMF and NIST guidance.
• Strong leadership, writing, and customer communication skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop the platform's cybersecurity architecture, requirements, and protection strategy.
• Perform threat modeling, vulnerability assessments, attack-surface analysis, and risk assessments.
• Define protections for secure boot, authentication, access control, encryption, and key management.
• Apply defense-in-depth across aircraft systems, networks, radios, data links, and interfaces.
• Lead DoD RMF activities and develop authorization evidence.
• Evaluate hardware, software, firmware, and supplier cybersecurity risks.
• Develop cybersecurity verification plans and support testing activities.
• Coordinate risk mitigation with engineering teams, suppliers, customers, and leadership.
• Ensure cybersecurity solutions support safety, availability, and mission effectiveness.
