Job summary

SMS Data Products Group, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Cyber Security Engineer to support the Base Infrastructure (BIM) contract and ensure compliance with DoD requirements, Air Force standards, and IDIQ obligations.

This role requires senior technical leadership across enterprise security initiatives. Based in McLean, VA, SMS offers opportunities to advance cyber missions for federal agencies. Candidates must have DoD experience, a TS/SCI-eligible clearance, and DoD 8570 IAM Level III certification

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, computer science, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• DoD 8570 IAM Level III certification required (CISSP, CISM, or equivalent).
• Active DoD Secret clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic cybersecurity expertise across BIM IDIQ Task Orders.
• Serve as SME for enterprise-level security architecture, policy compliance, and risk management.
• Manage RMF authorization activities coordinating with multiple Authorizing Officials.
• Develop enterprise cybersecurity strategies, policies, and standards across BIM implementations.
• Oversee STIG compliance, vulnerability management, and patching programs.
• Manage cybersecurity assessment activities including S&T evaluations and readiness assessments.
• Coordinate with government cybersecurity authorities (USCYBERCOM, AFCYBER, 688th Cyber Wing).
• Coordinate incident response for cybersecurity events.
• Develop and maintains Program Protection Implementation Plans.
• Ensure Post-Quantum Cryptography readiness and implementation planning.
• Manage cybersecurity workforce development ensuring DoD 8140 compliance.
• Provide cybersecurity guidance to Task Order teams.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide strategic cybersecurity expertise across all BIM IDIQ Task Orders ensuring compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements, Air Force Information Network standards, and IDIQ-level security obligations.
• Serve as one of the authoritative cybersecurity Subject Matter Expert for enterprise-level security architecture, policy compliance, and risk management.
• Manage Risk Management Framework authorization activities coordinating with multiple Authorizing Officials across Task Orders.
• Develop enterprise cybersecurity strategies, policies, and standards applicable across all BIM implementations.
• Oversees Security Technical Implementation Guide compliance, vulnerability management, and security patching programs.
• Manage cybersecurity assessment activities including Security Test and Evaluation events and Cyber Operations Readiness Assessments.
• Coordinate with Government cybersecurity authorities including USCYBERCOM, AFCYBER, and 688th Cyber Wing.
• Manage incident response coordination for cybersecurity events.

Required Qualifications

• Possess Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, computer science, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum 8 years of cybersecurity experience in DoD environments with demonstrated senior technical leadership.
• DoD 8570 IAM Level III certification required (CISSP, CISM, or equivalent)
• DoD Secret clearance required with ability to obtain TS/SCI.

Salary Range - $128,000 - $135,000
