Global IT Company is seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Consultant to lead multi-quarter advisory engagements in New York, shaping long-term security roadmaps and governance for enterprise clients.

You will serve as a Virtual CISO, translate findings into remediation actions, and collaborate with US/Japan teams on global client initiatives.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in cybersecurity, information risk management, or advisory roles.
• 5+ years in senior consulting, advisory, or vCISO capacity.
• Experience leading long-term advisory engagements with executives.
• Knowledge of major frameworks: NIST CSF/27001, NYDFS, HIPAA, CMMC, SOC 2.
• Strong technical understanding of IAM, SSO, MFA, SASE, ZTNA, AWS/Azure.

What will you do

• Lead multi-quarter advisory engagements for strategic accounts, developing cybersecurity strategies, governance frameworks, and three-year security roadmaps aligned with business objectives and risk appetite.
• Conduct readiness assessments and gap analyses against major frameworks including NIST CSF 2.0, CRI Profile v2.1, NYDFS Part 500, HIPAA, CMMC, ISO 27001, and SOC 2, and translate findings into actionable remediation plans.
• Serve as a Virtual CISO (vCISO) for organizations without a dedicated security executive, representing the security function in board meetings, supporting executive risk decision-making, and leading annual program reviews.
• Define target-state security architectures across identity, network, endpoint, cloud, and data security domains.
• Align security architecture decisions with customer IT modernization strategies and managed security service offerings.
• Provide post-incident advisory support, including root-cause analysis facilitation, executive communications, regulatory notification guidance, and program improvement recommendations.
• Build long-term relationships with senior customer stakeholders and serve as the primary strategic advisor for assigned accounts.
• Coordinate with pre-sales, delivery, account management, and customer success teams to ensure successful execution and customer outcomes.
• Contribute to advisory methodologies, intellectual property development, and cybersecurity service innovation.
• Mentor junior consultants and pre-sales engineers on consulting best practices and customer engagement strategies.
• Collaborate closely with teams in both the U.S. and Japan to leverage global expertise, threat intelligence, and customer relationships.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in cybersecurity, information risk management, or related advisory roles.
• At least 5 years of experience in a senior consulting, advisory, or vCISO capacity.
• Proven experience leading long-term advisory engagements with executive stakeholders, including CIOs, CISOs, Boards of Directors, and Audit Committees.
• Working knowledge of major cybersecurity frameworks including NIST CSF, ISO 27001/27002, CRI Profile, NYDFS Part 500, HIPAA Security Rule, CMMC, and CIS Controls.
• Strong technical understanding of modern security architecture, including IAM, SSO, MFA, SASE, ZTNA, firewalls, EDR, MDM, AWS, Azure, Microsoft 365, DLP, DSPM, and SSPM.
• Business-level proficiency in Japanese (reading, writing, and speaking).
• Excellent executive-level communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into business-focused recommendations.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
• Master's degree or MBA preferred.
• One or more senior-level certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, CRISC, or equivalent.
