Job summary

UL Solutions in Chicago seeks a Cybersecurity Expert to lead development and review of cybersecurity work products for ISO 21434, ISO 24089 and related standards across software-intensive systems in mobility and industrial domains.

The role combines hands-on secure software design, lifecycle practices, and strategic guidance for clients, including business development and travel to client sites. A strong background in automotive cybersecurity is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science, Mechanical, Automotive, Robotics, Software or Mechatronics Engineering. Masters preferred.
• 5+ years' experience with ISO 21434, CSMS, Automotive Cybersecurity Risk Management, Continuous Cybersecurity Activities.
• Software development experience, including hands-on coding, secure software design, and lifecycle practices for embedded or safety-relevant systems.
• Knowledge of ISO 26262, SOTIF (ISO 21448), and CRA.

Responsibilities

• Lead ISO/SAE 21434:2021 processes and templates.
• Lead ISO/SAE 21434:2021 work products (TARA, goals and claims, concepts, specifications, verification, assessment, validation, case).
• Lead ISO 24089:2023 processes and templates.
• Lead SUMS-related work products for software updates.
• Lead creation of processes for UN Regulations 155 and 156.
• Apply secure software development practices to guide clients in designing and verifying cybersecurity work products.
• Lead business development activities: define SOWs, budgets, and proposals.
• Lead client programs and travel to sites; provide technical leadership on functional safety and cybersecurity.
• Contribute to strategic direction and standards development; participate in standards committees.
• Promote continuous improvement and safety culture across activities.
