Job summary

MANTECH in Chantilly, VA is seeking a motivated Senior Cyber Security Engineer to lead technical operations, implement cybersecurity solutions, and safeguard mission-critical enterprise systems. You will ensure the integrity, confidentiality and availability of sensitive information while collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop, implement, and manage security measures.

The role requires a strong background in RMF, DoD/IC guidance, and experience guiding small to mid-size engineering

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent with 4+ years of related work experience.
• 5+ years of cybersecurity experience including RMF.
• Experience leading small to medium engineering teams.
• Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, MS Office.
• Active IAT Level II certification (GSEC, Security+, SSCP, or CCNA-Security) or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Assist in creating project schedules using ESS and MS Project to ensure timely delivery of cybersecurity initiatives.
• Develop briefing decks with cost estimates for senior leadership.
• Author and organize technical documentation; engage with customers to understand requirements.
• Coordinate engineering, integration, and administrative functions to deliver capabilities and services.
• Ensure all project aspects are completed per plans and schedules with quality and compliance.
• Oversee build-out and testing of applications/tools in virtual/physical environments for security validation.
• Manage incident and request queues in ServiceNow, providing Tier 2-4 support including after-hours coverage.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience with at least 4 additional years of relevant work experience. A minimum of 5 years of cybersecurity experience, including direct experience with Risk Management Framework (RMF), is required. Candidates should have demonstrated experience managing or leading small to medium-sized engineering teams supporting operations. Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Microsoft Office Suite is essential. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a solid understanding of DoD/IC policy and technical security guidance applicable to information systems. Additionally, an active IAT Level II certification (GSEC, Security+, SSCP, or CCNA-Security) is mandatory, or candidates must be able to obtain it within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the creation of comprehensive project schedules utilizing the Enterprise Scheduling Service platform (ESS), built on Microsoft Project, to ensure timely delivery of cybersecurity initiatives.
• Develop high-quality briefing decks, including detailed cost estimates, for presentation to senior leadership, ensuring clarity and strategic alignment.
• Author and organize technical documentation deliverables, engage with customers to understand their requirements, and maintain effective communication channels to ensure project transparency and alignment.
• Coordinate engineering, integration, and administrative functions necessary to deliver capabilities, documentation, and services aligned with operational and engineering baselines.
• Ensure all project aspects are completed and delivered according to established plans and schedules, maintaining quality and compliance standards.
• Oversee the build-out and testing of sophisticated applications and tools in both virtual and physical environments to validate functionality and security.
• Manage incident and request ticket queues through ServiceNow, providing Tier 2-4 support to customer systems, including potential after-hours and weekend support to ensure continuous system availability and security.
