Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Certified Welding Inspector II to inspect structural steel, pipe, and fabricated assemblies, witness weld qualification tests, and sign reports used by the engineer of record and building official.

You will move between fabrication shops and erection sites, review WPS/PQR, and direct NDT while managing nonconformances. Travel and overtime are part of the role, with pay ranging from $38 to $52 per hour.

Qualifications

• Current AWS CWI with 2+ years inspection experience.
• Proficient in AWS D1.1 and at least one of D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104.
• ICC structural steel and bolting certification preferred (sponsored if not held).
• Able to defend a rejection to a fabricator and document it so the retest closes.

Responsibilities

• Perform and sign visual weld inspections with accept/reject authority.
• Review WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records.
• Witness welder qualification tests and direct NDT.
• Write inspection reports and nonconformance reports for the engineer of record and building official.
• Inspect fabrication shops and field erection including high-strength bolting and base plate grouting.
