Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector II to inspect welded fabrications and components at shop and field sites. You will witness welder qualification tests, review WPS/PQR, and issue repair instructions under the authority of the code and engineer of record.

The role involves travel to project sites, signing inspection reports, and directing NDT with occasional overtime. A current AWS CWI is required; ICC certs are a plus and supported if not held.

Qualifications

• Current AWS CWI certification required.
• Experience inspecting under a CWI for 2+ years.
• Knowledge of AWS D1.1 and at least one of D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104.
• ICC structural steel and bolting special inspector certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform and sign visual weld inspection with accept/reject authority to the governing code.
• Review WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records; witness welder qualification tests.
• Direct and interpret nondestructive testing; write repair instructions and disposition indications.
• Inspect fabrication shops and field erection, including high-strength bolting and base plate grouting where certified.
• Write inspection reports and nonconformance reports for the engineer of record and the building official.
