Job summary

Metro Customs Brokers, a subsidiary of Omnitrans Inc., seeks a Senior Customs Regulatory Advisor to join our Regulatory & Consulting Services in the US Customs Brokerage division. The role focuses on delivering high-quality regulatory consulting to clients, coordinating regulatory data requests and audit responses, and staying ahead of changes in U.S.

Customs laws. A strong background in tariff classification and international trade practices is essential.

Qualifications

  • University degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum of eight years of comparable Customs operations experience.
  • Certified Customs Specialist designation or U.S. Customs Broker License is considered an asset.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of Title 19 of the CFR and related U.S. codes.
  • Strong tariff classification and valuation skills with substantial experience.
  • Thorough understanding of international business and trade practices.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures for regulatory matters and monitor developments affecting the company.
  • Resolve complex client issues related to tariff classification, claims, and other Customs topics.

Job description

Metro Customs Brokers, a subsidiary of Omnitrans Inc., is looking for a Senior Customs Regulatory Advisor to join our Regulatory & Consulting Services in US Customs Brokerage division.

This person will :

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Customs and trade regulatory matters, delivering high-quality Customs consulting services to clients while ensuring alignment with applicable regulations, corporate policies, standards, and values.
  • Provide oversight and coordination for regulatory data requests, legal and public records inquiries, audit responses, and strategic compliance planning.
Responsibilities
  • Monitor, interpret, and assess changes to U.S. Customs laws, regulations, tariff measures, and CBP guidance; evaluate potential client impacts and provide practical recommendations to support ongoing compliance.
  • Act as a trusted Customs and Trade Compliance advisor to clients by proactively communicating regulatory and tariff updates, explaining business implications, and providing clear guidance on required actions and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures that promote organizational awareness of regulatory and legislative matters; monitor developments and support strategies that advance the Company’s position.
  • Resolve complex client complaints, disputes, and compliance matters in an effective and timely manner, including issues related to tariff classification, claims, and other Customs-related topics.
  • Conduct research on Customs regulatory issues and provide informed guidance to internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Research and provide recommendations on tariff classification, valuation, and tariff treatment; update and maintain client product profiles as required.
  • Individual assignments may include, but are not limited to, the following:
    • Consulting on
      • Import strategy and compliance
      • Country of origin determination
      • Free trade eligibility
      • Partner Government Agency requirements
      • CF28 and CF29 audit responses.
      • Forced labor detentions
      • Seizures and marking notices
      • Binding Rulings
      • Mock audit
      • Prior disclosure
    • Product profile management
    • Claims and amendments
      • Post Summary Corrections.
      • 520(d) Free Trade Agreement claims.
      • 514 protests.
      • Superseding bonds.
      • Reconciliation submissions.
    • Temporary Import Bonds and USMCA Duty Deferral matters.
    • Perform client site visits as needed.
    • Develop training materials
    • Participate in Quarterly Business Reviews
    • Client outreach activities such as mass communications, bulletins and webinars

What You Bring

  • University degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum of eight years of comparable Customs operations experience.
  • Certified Customs Specialist designation or U.S. Customs Broker License is considered an asset.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Comprehensive working knowledge of Title 19 of the Code of Federal Regulations and applicable provisions of the United States Code.
  • Strong tariff classification and valuation skills, with at least two years of experience in these areas.
  • Thorough understanding of international business and trade practices.
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to negotiate effectively and build strong relationships with clients, trade partners, and government agencies.

Annual Range of pay

$65,000- $95,000

Salary range varies depending on location, relevant experience, qualifications, and skills.
