About the Role :

Confluent is seeking a Customer Success Technical Architect (CSTA) to serve as a trusted technical advisor to our customers. The role's main goal is to ensure customer success, retention, and expansion by providing technical guidance and best practices for the Confluent product suite. You will collaborate with Customer Solutions, Sales, Product Management, and Engineering teams to help customers accelerate value realization, maximize product usage, and meet business objectives.

The CSTA role combines technical expertise with commercial acumen. You will leverage your background in AppDev, SysAdmin, or Distributed Computing to advise on architectures, patterns, and strategies for optimizing Confluent subscriptions. Additionally, you'll use relationship management skills and industry knowledge to guide customers towards achieving their goals and deriving value from their investment.

This position offers the opportunity to gain experience with Kafka, Flink, and Confluent IP, as well as understanding of related technologies. You will work with a range of organizations from startups to large enterprises, building relationships, ensuring high standards, and helping customers develop state-of-the-art data streaming platforms.

What You Will Do :

• Champion and advocate for the customer within Confluent, acting as their technical voice.
• Coordinate with internal teams to drive technical success.
• Address customer objections and develop strategies to promote adoption.
• Support customers through architecture planning, security design, monitoring, automation, upgrades, and high availability.
• Guide customers on advanced topics like data mesh, stream processing, and performance tuning.
• Conduct customer reviews analyzing technical health and operational performance.
• Document knowledge and transfer skills to customers and internal teams.
• Influence Confluent product roadmaps based on customer environments and use cases.
• Assist with customer issues alongside Support Engineers and Engineering teams.

What You Will Bring :

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or related field.
• Proven success in a technical role with enterprise SaaS customers.
• Passion for solving complex technical problems and understanding modern infrastructure and streaming tech.
• Excellent communication skills for explaining complex issues to diverse audiences.
• Ability to manage multiple customers and initiatives simultaneously.
• Strong collaboration and relationship management skills.
• Hands-on experience with cloud vendors (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Solid understanding of cloud networking and security technologies (VPC, TLS/SSL, SASL, Kerberos).
• Experience coding in multiple languages (.Java, Python, Go).
• Experience with JVM tuning and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency with Linux (RedHat, Debian).
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly.
• Flexibility to travel up to 20% of the time.

What Gives You an Edge :

• Confluent Developer or Administrator certifications.
• Experience with Apache Flink.
• Experience building distributed or streaming systems with Kafka, Spark, Flink, Hadoop, Cassandra, etc.
