Job summary

USAM DC, a premier architectural millwork firm in Northern Virginia, seeks a Custom Engineer to develop and detail custom millwork, ensuring designs are manufacturable and aligned with project requirements. You will use AutoCAD and Microvellum for production drawings and collaborate across Engineering, Production, and Project Management to resolve design and fabrication challenges.

The role requires strong drafting skills, 5+ years in related fields, and familiarity with AWI standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Wood Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• High school diploma or GED with relevant drafting/engineering experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Develop custom construction details and engineering solutions.
• Detail custom architectural millwork using AutoCAD and Microvellum.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Production, and Project Management to meet deadlines.
• Review drawings and field conditions to ensure accurate fabrication releases.
• Provide technical guidance to team members on drawings, materials, and fabrication methods.
