Senior Cryptography Operations Specialist – Nomura

Base Pay

$120,000 – $150,000 per year (actual pay based on skills and experience).

Location

New York, NY (hybrid with mandatory office days).

Role Overview

Nomura’s global Identity and Access Management team seeks an experienced operations specialist to support and enhance its cryptographic infrastructure. The role safeguards trading, settlement, and client‑facing platforms by ensuring robust, compliant use of encryption technologies across the organization. It involves both day‑to‑day support and project delivery within a follow‑the‑sun operational model.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical operational leadership for Key Management Services, Public Key Infrastructure, and HSMs.
  • Lead IAM and MFA tooling operations, including CyberArk, Duo, and SecurID.
  • Collaborate with engineering on new services and platform improvements for resilience and automation.
  • Operate, maintain and resolve L2/L3 issues for key management and PKI platforms in a follow‑the‑sun model.
  • Support key‑signing ceremonies, lifecycle management, and inventory procedures.
  • Assist key management and PKI deployment to enable data protection and Identity solutions.
  • Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and incident response procedures.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Provide technical guidance and coaching to junior operations staff.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience operating PKI/Key Management in a financial‑services or high‑security environment.
  • Proficiency with HSM platforms (e.g., Thales, Utimaco, Entrust) and Key Management Systems.
  • Deep understanding of PKI components and cloud cryptographic services (AWS KMS, Azure Key Vault, GCP KMS).
  • Strong operational background with rigorous change management, incident handling, and ITIL familiarity.
  • Scripting and automation skills (Python, PowerShell, Bash, Terraform, Ansible).
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder‑management and cross‑functional collaboration abilities.
  • Operating business‑critical, time‑sensitive trading and operational systems.
  • Exposure to PKI redesign, HSM migrations, or cryptographic automation programs.
  • Relevant security certifications (CISSP, CCSP, vendor‑specific).
  • Strong English communication: written, verbal, and presentation.
  • Self‑motivation, initiative, and ability to manage multiple tasks independently.
