Qualifications

• 12 years of intensive and progressive experience in the field or equivalent.
• Bachelor's in a relevant field or 16 years of focused experience without a degree; master's may substitute.
• Strong experience with cryptographic algorithms and standards (FIPS 140, NIST).
• Experience with API development, backend services, and automation frameworks.
• Experience in federal or regulated environments and translating cryptographic requirements into implementations.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software systems supporting APIs, services, and validation workflows.
• Implement automated cryptographic algorithm testing capabilities and tooling for validation activities.
• Ensure systems align with FIPS/NIST standards and evolving requirements.
• Contribute to architecture decisions focusing on security, scalability, and maintainability.
• Refactor legacy components to modern, secure software practices.
• Identify and remediate technical risks affecting cryptographic validation infrastructure.
• Collaborate with program staff, testing labs, and stakeholders to support operations.
• Produce technical documentation including API specs and developer guides.
