Job summary

Impulse Space is seeking a Senior Ground Systems Engineer to own the design, installation, operation, and continuous improvement of cryogenic and industrial gas infrastructure at our Redondo Beach campus. You will work hands‑on to deliver safe, scalable ground support systems for manufacturing, testing and launch operations.

Responsibilities include leading cryogenic system design, commissioning, and maintenance, while collaborating with cross‑functional teams to ensure safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering; experience with industrial gas or cryogenic systems.
• Strong fundamentals in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and heat transfer.
• Knowledge of codes and standards (ASME, NFPA, CGA, OSHA).

Responsibilities

• Serve as the responsible engineer and primary technical owner for industrial gas and cryogenic fluid systems across the Redondo Beach campus.
• Design, install, commission, operate, and maintain cryogenic tank farms, gas distribution systems, and related instrumentation.
• Apply first‑principles engineering to develop ground support systems and improve existing infrastructure.
• Collaborate with Test, Manufacturing, Avionics, Facilities, and EHS teams to support operations.
• Develop system specifications, P&IDs, procedures, and maintenance plans.
• Troubleshoot issues with cryogenic fluids, high‑pressure gases, valves, and controls.
• Manage relationships with suppliers and contractors.
• Lead commissioning, upgrades, and expansion projects with safety and engineering standards in mind.
