Job summary

CVR Energy, Inc. seeks a Supervisor, Crude Valuation to lead a team of accountants responsible for valuation, costing, and reporting of crude oil and feedstock purchases, inventories, and consumption supporting refining, trading, and logistics operations.

You will oversee ETRM recognition, GL accounting, close, reconciliations, and related analyses, guide staff, maintain SOX controls, and collaborate with front office, operations, FP&A, and auditors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• Master’s Degree or Professional Accounting Certification preferred.
• CPA is not required but strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily crude oil and feedstock valuation and accounting activities supporting refining, marketing, and logistics.
• Direct monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for crude oil, feedstocks, intermediary purchasing, transportation, and related activities.
• Review and approve journal entries, inventory valuations, accruals, and workpapers.
• Analyze and explain valuation results, variances, and financial statement fluctuations to Sr. Manager and business partners.
• Lead, supervise, and develop a team of crude valuation accountants; assign work and conduct performance reviews.
• Serve as primary escalation point for valuation, settlement, and accounting issues and escalate significant matters as needed.
• Maintain desktop procedures and documentation; implement cross-training and backup coverage plans.
• Update Sr. Manager on deliverables, workload, risks, and resource needs.
