Job summary

Clayco’s LJC Design & Engineering seeks a Critical Utilities Lead Engineer to drive planning, design, and delivery of clean and critical utility systems for life sciences manufacturing. You will work with process, mechanical, electrical, and construction teams to ensure reliable, compliant solutions.

The role emphasizes defining system architectures for GMP/GxP, pursuing front-end opportunities, and mentoring junior engineers in a fast-paced design-build environment.

Qualifications

• 10–20+ years of experience designing critical and clean utility systems for life sciences manufacturing.
• Experience leading design of clean and critical utilities that directly support manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with GMP/GxP, FDA expectations, ISPE Baseline Guides, ASME.
• PE licensure preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and design of critical utility systems from early planning through construction support.
• Develop system strategies for PW, WFI, clean steam, and process gases.
• Coordinate with process engineers to align capacity and redundancy with manufacturing.
• Define architectures supporting GMP, regulatory expectations.
• Review calculations, drawings, specs, and equipment selections.
