The City and County of Denver seeks a Criminalist II in the Denver Police Department’s Forensics & Evidence Division to support crime scene investigations and evidence processing. The senior night-shift position requires availability on weekends, holidays, and on‑call status.

The incumbent will identify, preserve, and package evidence, document scenes with digital tools, and assist in autopsies as needed, while maintaining rigorous QA and chain-of-custody procedures.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of experience at the Criminalist I level.
• Education: Bachelor's degree; experience equivalency may substitute education.
• IAI Certified Crime Scene Analyst Level 2 within two years of employment.
• LEVA Levels 1-4 training within four years of employment.

Responsabilités

• Identify, collect, preserve, and package biological, friction ridge, impression, and other physical evidence per SOPs.
• Support crime scene investigations with advanced techniques and training.
• Perform advanced crime scene processing with minimal supervision.
• Document crime scenes using forensic photography, videography, laser scanning, and diagramming software.
• Attend autopsies to photograph injuries and assist with evidence collection as needed.
• Prepare detailed technical reports and maintain chain of custody.
