City and County of Denver is seeking a Criminalist I for the Denver Police Department's Forensics & Evidence Division. This seniority-based, night-shift role requires availability on weekends and holidays, with on-call responsibilities and potential courtroom testimony.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree and at least one year of crime scene processing experience or related forensic work. A valid driver's license and future certifications are required.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in crime scene processing or related forensic work.
• Experience with digital multimedia editing or video enhancement is preferred.
• Internship with a forensic laboratory or criminal justice organization may substitute for some requirements.

Responsibilities

• Identify, collect, preserve, and package evidence per SOPs.
• Document crime scenes using photography, videography, laser scanning, and diagramming software.
• Prepare technical reports per departmental standards.
• Maintain chain of custody and ensure evidence integrity.
• Provide courtroom testimony on scene processing and evidence handling.
• Assist training of Criminalist I and Crime Scene Technician personnel.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve daily operational issues.
• Operate in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 and QA guidelines.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
