Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in crime prevention or related field (for II support).
• Two years of responsible experience similar to Crime Prevention Specialist I with the City of Hayward.
• CPTED certificate desirable; Basic Crime Prevention and CPTED certificates desirable.

Responsibilities

• Act as liaison between the Hayward Police Department and the public.
• Problem-solve, strategize and promote police and community partnerships and communications.
• Plan, coordinate, organize and facilitate community programs and events.
• Coordinate and communicate with block captains and community groups.
• Recruit, screen, train, and supervise volunteers.
• Conduct background checks on ride-along applicants and schedule rides.
