Job summary

American President Lines (APL), CMA CGM Group member, seeks a Crewing Specialist to coordinate crew with senior officers and unions, ensuring regulatory compliance on vessels and in ports. You will verify credentials, manage travel, and maintain manpower records for a large crew portfolio.

You will also support cadet programs, assist in negotiations, and act as DER for Drug & Alcohol programs, requiring strong MS Office and ABS Nautical Systems skills.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of federal and international maritime personnel regulatory requirements including STCW and MLC.
  • Experience with maritime union labor relations, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and records management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work with labor union representatives to provide qualified crew in U.S. ports and abroad.
  • Verify crew qualifications (Merchant Marine Credential, STCW, TWIC, passport/visa).
  • Data entry in NS 5 personnel files and schedule crew travel.
  • Coordinate cadet assignments with U.S. Maritime Academies.
  • Assist in collective bargaining negotiations and drug testing programs.
  • Serve as DER for Drug & Alcohol program and AED compliance.
  • Prepare agendas for Human Resource Committee meetings.
