Job description

Responsibilities

  • Supervisory responsibility for the FI team including recruitment, training, and day-to-day management of team members.
  • Ensure credit risks originated and managed by the FI team are properly assessed, measured, and managed at origination and through ongoing monitoring.
  • Contribute to defining the Bank’s credit policy guidelines and overall risk appetite.
  • Identify and understand emerging risks in partnership with the business to ensure they are well understood and adequately mitigated.
  • Stay aware of regulatory developments and ensure team compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
  • Participate in projects to enhance governance and meet evolving regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in New Product Committees to assess new business initiatives for associated credit risks and governance.
  • Foster strong partnerships with the business.

Profile required

Division Description: The Risk Management Department contributes to the sustainable growth of Societe Generale through expertise, understanding of risks, and risk management techniques. Its mission is to analyze, assess, manage, and monitor risk-taking activities to achieve optimal outcomes for the bank. The department oversees enterprise, strategic, credit, market, liquidity, operational, model, and other risks across various business activities.

RISQ/CRE oversees: Management of credit related to corporates, financial institutions, sovereign counterparties, and country risk for SG Group.

The Team Head oversees all credit risks within the Financial Institutions scope for the SG Americas perimeter, managing a team of 5 Senior Credit Officers. The scope includes Banks, Brokers, Insurance, Private Equity; products include Cap Call Facilities, PE Fund Financing, securitizations, and structured fund financing. The assets span various classes, including vanilla and structured products, across trading and lending activities. The role involves setting risk appetite and standards for credit risk management.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 15+ years in management within financial services
  • 8+ years managing teams of 3+ members
  • Broad knowledge of risks in the Financial Institutions sector, with expertise in credit risk related to Financial Institutions
  • Current knowledge of US market and regulatory practices
  • Strong analytical and credit judgment skills
  • Problem-solving ability and autonomous working capacity
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and issues
  • Excellent collaboration skills across divisions and with partners
  • Results-oriented with strategic decision-making skills
  • Good English writing skills; French is a plus
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Innovative and creative mindset
