Job summary

Laz Partners Limited in New York is seeking a Senior Fixed Income/Credit Analyst to join a growing credit team. The role involves deep, bottom-up underwriting across investment grade, crossover, high yield and leveraged loans, with a focus on hands-on loan underwriting from a buy-side perspective.

The successful candidate will work with portfolio managers, participate in meetings with institutional clients, and build a client-facing profile over time.

Qualifications

• 15 to 25+ years of credit investment experience at senior analyst level.
• Buy-side underwriting across IG and HY, with leverage on loans.
• Hands-on underwriting of leveraged loans with cash-flow modelling.
• Experience covering multiple corporate sectors and ratings.
• Independent underwriting judgment with client-facing experience.
• CFA or MBA or similar advanced qualification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Fundamental credit research across IG, crossover, HY and leveraged loans.
• Assess credits against platform standards and present independent conclusions.
• Analyze capital structure, covenants, documentation and downside scenarios.
• Underwrite and monitor leveraged loan positions, including amendments and settlement.
• Collaborate with PMs on capital deployment and participate in portfolio meetings.
• Present credit conclusions to the investment team and handle challenge.
• Engage institutional clients and prospects alongside the distribution team.
• Cover multiple sectors and ratings, with BBB/BB focus and selective B opportunities.
• Contribute to ongoing growth of the credit business and platform development.
