Job summary

Rock Island Animal Hospital in Rock Island, IL, seeks a Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our AAHA‑accredited team. You will support veterinarians in anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, labs, and client education, applying compassionate care and precise recordkeeping.

Requirements include state license as a veterinary technician, 5+ years of experience, proficiency in COHAT and dental radiographs, anesthesia monitoring, and strong communication skills to ensure patient safety and client

Qualifications

• State license to practice as a veterinary technician in the desired employment state.
• Minimum 5+ years of veterinary technician experience.
• Proficiency in COHAT and dental radiographs.
• Experience with anesthesia monitoring and client education.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in exams, surgeries, and procedures.
• Take histories, vital signs, and educate clients.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs intra‑op.
• Collect samples and perform in‑house or prepare for external labs.
• Take, develop, and maintain radiographs following safety procedures.
• Provide animal handling and restraining during exams.
• Administer medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments as directed.
• Maintain clean, stocked exam and treatment rooms; support team and keep areas orderly.
• Communicate with veterinarians and clients to discuss plans and concerns.
• Other duties as assigned.
