Job summary

Rock Island Animal Hospital is seeking a Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our team in Illinois. You will support veterinarians in exams, anesthesia, dentistry, and laboratory work while educating clients and ensuring patient comfort.

Qualifications

• State license to work as a veterinary technician.
• 5+ years experience as veterinary technician.
• Proficiency in COHAT and dental radiographs.
• Proficiency in anesthesia monitoring and support.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and follow PPE protocols.
• Strong communication and medical record-keeping skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in the practice of veterinary medicine and surgery as needed.
• Assist with outpatient exams by taking histories, vital signs, and weights and educate clients.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs during surgery.
• Obtain samples and perform in-hospital laboratory testing.
• Take and maintain radiographs following safety procedures.
• Provide basic animal handling and restrain animals during exams.
• Administer medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments per veterinarian.
• Clean and restock exam and treatment areas and maintain equipment.
• Demonstrate warmth and professionalism in all client interactions.
• Communicate with veterinarians and team members about patient plans and concerns.
• Undertake other duties as assigned.
