Job summary

Bernalillo County is seeking a Senior Attorney to serve as legal counsel to the Board of County Commissioners, county management, and other elected officials in Albuquerque, NM. or LL.B. and a valid NM license, plus five years of litigation and advisory experience.

Qualifications

• J.D. or LL.B. from an accredited school and NM license.
• In good standing with the NM Supreme Court.
• Five years of legal experience including litigation and appellate work.

Responsibilities

• Serve as legal counsel to elected officials and county management.
• Draft and review ordinances, resolutions, contracts, policies and related legal documents.
• Represent the County in state and federal courts and before administrative bodies.
• Provide legal advice on employment, labor relations, and land use matters.
• Coordinate with outside or contract counsel as needed.
