Job summary

The Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court seeks an Attorney Associate to provide legal advice, perform research, and draft opinions under the direction of judges and supervising attorneys in Albuquerque, NM.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of a law school meeting ABA standards.
• Must possess and maintain a license to practice law in the State of New Mexico.
• Three years of experience in the practice of applicable law, or as a law clerk.

Responsibilities

• Draft recommendations and proposed dispositions for assigned cases, judgments, orders, and decisions.
• Screen pro se petitions for jurisdictional and procedural prerequisites.
• Respond to correspondence from pro se litigants, inmates, attorneys, and the public.
• Assist the Court in reviewing motions, docketing statements and briefs for appeals.
• Draft memoranda of law, proposed opinions and orders for administrative appeals and de novo appeals.
