Chicago Public Schools (CPS) is seeking a Deputy General Counsel to lead the Transactions Unit in the Law Office. You will oversee contract negotiations, drafting and compliance across a broad range of agreements; advise on procurement and finance matters; and mentor a team of attorneys and staff in a fast-paced public district environment.

The role requires a JD from an accredited school, Illinois licensure, and at least ten years of relevant experience with five years in leadership.

Competenze

Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
Licensed to practice law in Illinois.
Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience including eight (8) years of legal practice and transactional work.
Minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience supervising attorneys and staff.

Mansioni

Manage a team of attorneys, paralegals and staff responsible for negotiating and drafting CPS contracts.
Develop attorneys and staff to be solution oriented and client-focused.
Ensure compliance with applicable laws, Board Rules, and Board Policies.
Collaborate with Procurement and other departments on solicitations (Bids, RFPs, RFQs).
Develop efficient processes for contract lifecycle activities.
Participate in strategic planning and department goals.
Manage outside counsel handling CPS transactions.
Lead CPS on complex agreements and solicitations.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
