Job summary

Honeywell is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to lead sanctions and AML compliance, advising on licenses and regulatory strategy across the company. The role partners with Export, AML, and CFIUS teams to support growth and compliance.

Based in Washington, DC or Charlotte, NC, it offers a hybrid schedule and opportunities to work on high-impact regulatory initiatives within a global technology firm.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.
• Minimum 6 years’ experience in a law department, preferably in a multinational company, law firm or government agency.
• Significant experience in trade regulations, including U.S. sanctions laws and AML regulations.
• Knowledge of Compliance IT and digital systems (including ERP software systems, SAP, GTS, Salesforce, etc.).
• Excellent communication skills and strong ethics.

Responsibilities

• Proactively identify, evaluate, and manage sanctions and AML risks to enable sustainable growth.
• Advise on higher risk transactions and preparation of licenses for operations.
• Enhance trade controls and screening protocols to align with regulatory requirements.
• Stay updated on trade laws and regulatory announcements and assess impacts.
• Lead and collaborate with project teams, outside vendors, and consultants.
• Assist in testing and audits of the sanctions and AML compliance program.
• Develop trainings on sanctions and AML compliance for internal stakeholders.
• Support investigations into sanctions and AML compliance matters.
