Job summary

Larson Maddox seeks a Senior/Counsel Litigation Attorney to handle complex civil defense matters, including general liability, transportation, and high-exposure casualty claims. This remote role allows placement anywhere in CA with a hybrid work arrangement available.

Base salary around $210k plus experience-based adjustments. The attorney will manage matters from investigation through resolution, interact with corporate clients and insurers, and collaborate with seasoned litigators across

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active CA license to practice law.
• 8+ years of civil defense litigation experience.
• Experience handling personal injury, premises liability, transportation claims, trucking litigation, catastrophic injury, or related casualty defense work.
• Strong deposition, motion practice, and case management skills.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage a diverse portfolio of defense litigation matters through all phases, including discovery, motion practice, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial.
• Develop and execute litigation strategies tailored to client objectives and case-specific risks.
• Draft, review, and argue motions, pleadings, briefs, and other substantive legal filings.
• Conduct and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, and expert witnesses.
• Oversee written discovery, including drafting responses, requests, and discovery-related motions.
• Appear in court for hearings, conferences, mediations, arbitrations, and other proceedings.
• Provide clients with strategic legal guidance, risk assessments, and regular case updates.
• Collaborate with attorneys across practice groups on complex and multi-jurisdictional matters.
• Support the professional development of junior attorneys and legal staff.
• Assist with trial preparation, including witness preparation, exhibit organization, and courtroom strategy.
