Job summary

Transamerica is seeking a Senior Privacy Counsel to guide global privacy, cybersecurity, and AI governance initiatives. You will translate complex legal requirements into actionable guidance to enable responsible innovation across the enterprise.

The role requires a JD, US bar admission, 5+ years of global privacy experience, and 2 years in AI governance, with hybrid work options near key offices.

Qualifications

• JD from an ABA-accredited law school or equivalent
• Licensed to practice law in the U.S.
• 5 years of global privacy legal experience, preferably at a large law firm or in-house within a global financial services company
• 2 years of AI governance experience, including advising on AI regulations and supporting successful implementation of AI governance programs
• Deep subject matter expertise across global privacy, cybersecurity and AI regulatory frameworks
• Strong technical fluency, with the ability to engage with AI, data and cybersecurity concepts
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to provide practical legal advice
• Experience driving change through influence rather than formal authority
• Curiosity, action-orientation, and willingness to iterate

Responsibilities

• Independently handle complex privacy, cybersecurity and AI legal matters with minimal supervision
• Advise business stakeholders on privacy, cybersecurity and AI governance regulatory requirements
• Partner on global AI governance initiatives and review AI use cases for compliance
• Support global privacy operations including PIAs, DPIAs, DSARs, RoPAs, and third-party privacy risk management
• Draft, review and negotiate privacy-related legal agreements
• Design scalable privacy and AI compliance frameworks
• Identify training needs and deliver privacy and AI regulatory training
• Drive cross-functional projects and coordinate outside counsel
