Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company is seeking a Senior Counsel, Nuclear Fuel to provide strategic legal support across commercial, regulatory, and contractual matters for the Global OPX Nuclear Fuel business. The role focuses on the US nuclear fuel sector and reports to the Assistant General Counsel, OPX Nuclear Fuel, located at Cranberry Township, PA or Columbia, SC with a hybrid schedule.

The position requires a JD, 5+ years of relevant experience, and US Bar admission.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant legal experience with focus on commercial and business law.
• Experience reviewing and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
• Member of a US State Bar.
• Experience with corporate governance in regulated environments.
• In‑house counsel experience and/or negotiating international agreements preferred.
• Experience in energy, nuclear, manufacturing, or regulated industries preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify legal and commercial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them while supporting company goals.
• Review, analyze, and negotiate complex commercial agreements (nuclear fuel supply, services, NDAs, licensing, teaming).
• Draft terms for complex contracts and translate terms to suppliers and vendors; develop master/blanket agreements for long lead procurements.
• Participate in negotiations with domestic and international customers and suppliers.
• Advise management on legal, compliance, and regulatory risks for business transactions.
• Collaborate with project management and business teams to achieve corporate objectives.
• Provide training and counsel on legal issues, compliance, and risk mitigation.

About The Role

As a Senior Counsel, Nuclear Fuel you will provide strategic legal support across complex commercial, regulatory, and contractual matters for our Global Operating Plant (OPX) Nuclear Fuel business. You will be a strategic partner and support the offer development process, internal governance matters, and other legal and contractual matters that arise during project execution and commercial disputes. Within OPX Nuclear Fuel business, you will have a primary focus on our US-based Nuclear Fuel business. You will report to the Assistant General Counsel, OPX Nuclear Fuel and be located at either our Cranberry Township, PA or Columbia, SC sites. Hybrid Work Schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify legal and commercial risks to the enterprise and develop practical strategies to mitigate or eliminate such risks while supporting our goals.
• Review, analyze, and negotiate complex commercial agreements, such as Nuclear Fuel Supply Contracts, including supply agreements, technical services contracts, nondisclosure agreements, software licensing and development agreements, and teaming agreements.
• Skilfulness in drafting terms of complex project customer contracts and translation of prime contract sales terms to suppliers and vendors. Experience developing supply chain master or blanket agreements for critical long lead material procurements.
• Participate in complex negotiations with domestic and international customers and suppliers.
• Identify issues and promptly advise management on legal, compliance and regulatory risks associated with business transactions.
• Collaborate to partner with internal project management groups and business teams to achieve corporate goals.
• Train and advise management on legal issues, compliance and risk mitigation.
• Travel domestically and internationally on an as-required basis.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate Degree
• 5+ years of relevant legal experience, with a focus on commercial and business law
• Membership in a US State Bar
• Experience with corporate governance processes in a regulated environment
• Prior in‑house counsel experience and/or experience negotiating international commercial agreements preferred.
• Experience supporting energy, nuclear, manufacturing, or other regulated industries preferred.
• Foreign language skills (Spanish, French, Chinese, Japanese, or Korean) preferred.

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $144,000 to $180,000 per year.
