Capital One’s Consumer & Small Business Legal Team is seeking a Senior Counsel, Fair Lending to help shape antidiscrimination practices across our Consumer Card, Retail Bank, Capital One Auto, and Capital One Shopping businesses. The role requires strong legal and analytical skills, a growth mindset, and the ability to manage multiple projects with business partners.

The position offers hybrid work with three days per week in‑person at an office, and provides opportunities to lead complex fair

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
• Active member in good standing of at least one state bar.
• At least 5 years of attorney experience in law firm, in‑house, or government agency.
• At least 5 years of financial services industry knowledge relating to consumer credit products.

Responsibilities

• Serve as enterprise‑wide legal expert on ECOA, Fair Housing Act, state fair lending laws, and related regulations.
• Advise Capital One’s Consumer Card, Retail Bank, Auto, and Shopping businesses on fair lending initiatives.
• Support compliance in implementing fair lending and adverse action programs.
• Provide legal counseling to commercial lines of business as needed.
• Support team matters on accessibility, powers of attorney, conservatorships, and guardianship.
