Job summary

Thomson Reuters seeks a Senior Counsel, Engineering & Technology to join our General Counsel’s Office. You will advise on legal, regulatory, and reputational risks across the technology development lifecycle, supporting Engineering, Technology, and Innovation Labs.

You will work across software, platforms, and research initiatives, including AI and emerging technologies, to enable strategic technology investments while ensuring regulatory compliance and intellectual property protection.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree and active license in good standing.
• 4+ years of experience in a law firm and/or corporate legal department advising on technology transactions and data privacy.
• Familiarity with AI regulation, data privacy and cybersecurity laws.
• Ability to balance legal risk with business objectives for Engineering, Technology, and Innovation Labs teams.

Responsibilities

• Advise engineering and technology partners on legal issues across the lifecycle for new platforms and services.
• Identify and manage legal, regulatory, and reputational risks with practical business guidance.
• Advise on AI, machine learning, and frontier technologies within research pilots.
• Develop regulatory compliance best practices for AI, data privacy, security, and open source licenses.
