Job summary

Thomson Reuters is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Legal) to join the CoCounsel Forward Deployed Engineering team. You will design, build, and deploy bespoke AI solutions for law firms and corporate legal departments, turning architectural direction into production-ready systems that legal professionals can trust.

You will collaborate with AI engineers and cross-functional partners to deliver high-impact solutions, mentor engineers, and lead projects using Agile/Scrum in a hybrid office

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with production-grade software.
• Proficiency in Python and AI/LLM evaluation techniques.
• Experience designing and delivering AI-enabled legal solutions.
• Strong communication with lawyers and engineers.

Responsibilities

• Act as interface between legal teams and engineering.
• Break down customer requirements for the team.
• Develop software from system specs to deployment.
• Write secure, tested code with DevOps practices.
• Evaluate non-deterministic AI outputs for legal accuracy.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead Agile projects.
• Deliver end-to-end solutions for multiple products.
• Work in a hybrid office with occasional travel.
