PacifiCorp seeks a seasoned attorney to provide broad transactional and regulatory legal support from Portland, OR or Salt Lake City, UT. You will draft, negotiate, and manage complex contracts across utility transactions, property, financing, and software agreements, while guiding operations and regulatory strategy.

The role requires JD, bar eligibility in applicable states, 5+ years in transactional law, and deep knowledge of electric utility regulation.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate and bar eligibility in states where PacifiCorp conducts business.
• Minimum five years of experience as a transactional/commercial attorney.
• Deep experience with legal/regulatory issues in electric utilities.
• Ability to manage and negotiate with peers and senior officers on policy matters.
• Strong oral and written communication; leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
• Knowledge of PacifiCorp policies, regulatory environment and applicable laws.
• Ability to interpret external rules and regulations and apply them strategically.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal support on a wide range of commercial contracts and transactions.
• Counsel and direct various operational units on legal matters.
• Ensure compliance with tariffs, laws, and regulatory requirements.
• Assess legal risks and advise management on strategic issues.
• Develop and implement policies aligned with legal principles.
• Stay current on energy industry regulatory trends and best practices.
• Manage outside counsel and coordinate regulatory filings and hearings.
